rewind one coil of a humbucker??

Would it be advisable? What about underwind one coil and leave the other one stock? Will it improve anything?

I dunno about rewinding one and not the other, but if you underwind one (how you'd know how many turns to put on without doing both I dont know ) buy a couple of hundred turns then those turns will act like  single coil turns and let high end and innadiable noise through.

I had Tim rewind one coil of my Patent # PAF (yes a real one!).  I gave it to him to match it with another pickup, but he found that it had already been rewound in the past (this was why it was hotter than most Gibson pickups).  He brought the really overwound coil back to standard and it now sounds really sweet.  I also had him put in an Alnico IV magnet.

The VHII and Miracle Man have offset coils and so do some other BK's, but the amount varies.  I think you get a more open sound but at the expense of some hum cancelling.

Sure, can do it no problem.................if the original had symmetrical windings, introducing an offset will open out the high end and one scatterwound coil will also help extend frequency response.

What type of wire would you use? the same type and thickness of the stock coil? Can anything diferent be used? Pros? cons?
