"Good" news... :(
« on: June 23, 2010, 12:00:43 AM »
As you guys know I've done a surgery on the shoulder 6 weeks ago and am doing now physical therapy...
So, yesterday the weather changed and it became cold and I said today to the P. Therapist "hey, today the shoulder is rusted and with a little of pain"... Just to have her answer: "Welcome to the past-surgery life, the weather change and it'll hurt"

I was, innocently, expecting this happen when I hit 40 years, but seems like it started a bit early :?

Posting just to people have a good laugh

I sympatise. I broke my left index finger when I was about 17, and consequently can predict rain with uncanny accuracy.

\mind you, I live in Ireland, so that's about as impressive as predicting gravity.

+1

Yeah, even though I'm well over 40, I was still quite surprised after I broke my arm a couple of years back - shoulder gets bad when it gets cold and damp... I was thinking that it wouldn't happen until my late 50s, if I ever get that far

I broke my wrist (playing rugby, Fernando!  :) ) when I was about 16 and they told me I might get these damp-weather aches.  But it's never happened, touch wood.

yeah, +1 on that. even if you're wrong all you have to do is wait for about 3 hours.

Sorry to hear that, fernando. I've never broken anything. :)

It will improve with time Fernando. It takes a long time for the bones to get strong after they knit back together. I broke a metacarpal in my left hand in a motorbike accident. It ached like f*ck at first but it's ok now. After about 4-5 hours guitar playing it can ache a bit but I don't care anymore, if it still works then you're ok.

@Fernando: My right hand aches (stop sniggering at the back) when the weather turns damp/code.  Had a nasty tennis injury when I was about 14.  Well, more of a clumsy bar-steward injury... I tripped over and punched the ground (concrete court) whilst playing tennis.

But Mac, I've not broke the bones, I got busted the ligament of shoulder... And the doctors nailled it to the bone to stay in place, is a ligamente very alike that white half-ball on the bone of chiken's leg...

Fernando, although most of us are going "when I broke this bone", it's not actually the bones that are hurting, we haven't got nerves in our bones. Most of us damaged ligaments and muscles when we broke something - them muscles is the stuff that's aching in the damp...

...why does it ache in the damp though?? Anyone actually know?

EDIT: I just read back through the thread and realised I might have been answering something I imagined, and that you already know this!! (Still it's all educational for the casual internet browser - I'll leave it in, you never know, someone might come upon this thread by accident and it could save them worrying about... er.... something...)
