WIRING/TECHNICAL PEOPLE PLEASE LOOK HERE!!!
« on: December 08, 2005, 12:12:04 AM »
hi, everbody. ive just moved a set of duncans out of one guitar (now got Black Dogs in) im now trying to wire 'em into an Ibanez RG350. Sounds straight forward enough, but the 5 way switch is not the usual type, (it's got 8 tags, in line). This is complicated further by me removing the middle Single coil, which i dont use/want. Idealy I would want the switching to be 1 bridge HB, 2 both HB's, 3 both inner coils, 4 neck SC, 5 neck HB.
If anyone is familiar with this kind of switching, and how to wire it with this damn 5way it would be most appreciated. Simpler switching suggestions also welcome, as Im not the most electricly minded as you've probably guessed.
Cheers, Pete.

You need a 4 pole 5 way switch, and someone clever with wiring. Say "Philking" five times infront of a mirror and check this thread every now and then

Hi, you need to get the super switch to do this.  BK sells them I think, they are a 4 pole 5 way switch.  The switch you have is a japanese/chinese strat switch.  It is the same as the fender, but instead of 2 rows of 4 tags, it has them all in line.

With a superswitch you could have this set quite easily, though you will need to flip the magnet if you want both inner coils to be a humbucker, and it is easier to flip your setting 2 & 3.

If you want to do this, let me know and I'll give you the wiring instructions.
So many pickups, so little time
