Wiring into a H/S/H guitar (5 way switch, 1xtone, 1xvolume)
« on: December 09, 2005, 06:50:57 PM »
Willstar's just got his Warpig, and we're useless and can't wire it right into an S-series Ibanez with good ol' H/S/H config. It's a bridge pup and I'm kinda worried about having the same problem when my Nailbomb comes! Cant someone give us a Schematic with BKP colours or a description of what to do...any help at all please?

Depends if it's a stock H/S/H with auto tap on the 2nd and 4th position. You'll need to wire the white and green together, that is the tap lead. Black goes to ground and red is hot.

It depends also on the polarity of the other pups in the axe!

Our colour code is.... black= screw start (south) red= slug start (north) white = screw finish, green = slug finish.

nope - can't wire it, lol. wired it one way and it sounded quiet and thin, and wired it the other way and it sounds exactly the same. the schematic couldn't help since i have a scary scary switch with 24 connections on, and i think that the original humbucker was 2 conductor, whilst this one is four - makes noo sense how it works. the schematic from philking, and the description of what to do i think are different.
Basically - does anyone know of anyone in bucks that can do this for me professionally? i'm uber confused - this switch is ridiculous! everything's wired so weirdly. Me and dad have given up on it!

haha - seems there is a good reason for not doing this stuff yourself

haha - apparently i'm not just being an idiot - and apparently S-series guitars actually are notoriously hard (and odd) to wire. My old teacher gave me contacts for a local tech, and i'm taking it to him tomorrow - he has experience with S-Series wiring  8) yippee

Hi, that looks like a superswich, but different to all the ones I have ever used (but all of them have 24 tabs).  This is the diagram for a super switch.

alright - i've taken my guitar to Fender employee Terry Hudson, who, by the way is a great guy - couldn't be more friendly and useful - i definately reccommend him to anyone who lives around aylesbury! He should be finished on the Ibanez by this evening or tomorrow!! I'm SO excited.
