risks of getting a guitar collected by courier
« on: July 10, 2010, 02:08:29 PM »
In just a gig bag?

Im asking this as the seller refuses to box the guitar up and its collection only miles away in london.

However he/she has agreed that i can arrange for a courier to pick it up as is in the gig bag from whereouts its not his responsibility.

Is this a good idea? How careful are couriers generally with parcels?

BAD IDEA.

If you're organising the collection he's not liable for anything that happens to it, and a guitar only in a gig bag will almost definately get wrecked.

VERY Bad Idea.

And to be fair, I would have some sympathy for the courier in that situation.... if the item's not packed in what anyone would consider a reasonably secure manner, how can they be expected to "baby" it so it doesn't get damaged?

Have you already bought and paid for this guitar?

Sounds the best way of doing it.  And the seller should be happy, no Paypal charges!
