Sticker Removal
« on: July 15, 2010, 02:39:03 PM »
Right, just opened my guitar case after it being sat around for a week and found that some dickhead at the venue I last played at has put extra stickers on the back of my SG. Anyone got any tips to remove the residue.

Even though I've put my own Mastodon sticker on the back of my guitar, someone else adding their own 'for a laugh 'cos it makes them sound better' is completely out of order.

I've used vinegar in the past for some residues.

You need to be careful if it's a nitro finish.

I think lighter fluid can work?  Best check with the experts first though!

Lemon oil's pretty safe.  Might leave a bit of oily residue (of course) but that wipes off easily.
BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds
BKPs I Had:  RY+Abraxas, Crawlers, BD+SM

Lighter fluid!
Soak the sticker - leave it 5-10 mins , then carefully peel
Use more fluid on a cloth or kitchen towel to clean up afterwards

what kind of a douche would put a sticker on someone else's guitar? I can't help with your problem, unfortunately, but I just have to ask that. :?

$%&# knows. The venue in question is local to me and I used to work there. A lot of the punters and staff I consider friends so for one of them to do that whilst I left my gear there over night (after a show I'd played, for a case of beer, which was organised two days before) is pretty shitety in my eyes.

I'm assuming I can just use lighter fluid that I'd fill my Zippo up with?
