NGD - Old School PRS Content

So I traded my Custom Shop Jackson for something completely different:



1987 PRS Standard 24, 32xx serial if anyone cares. All mahogany, Brazilian rosewood fretboard, moon inlays. Early PRS spec bridge/5 way/sweet switch/tuners. It's a bit of a monster - used, not abused, with a whole lot of mojo as stock.

I haven't pulled the pickups to check but the 'Stickered T & Bs' that it's apparently loaded with sound really good. No need to BKP this one! Setup needs a bit of tweaking but that's about it.

Congrats. I used to own a PRS that looked just like that one. a 1990 or 91. Wish I didn't sell the damn thing now.

Yeah. It shouts "play me hard" and can back it up too. Massively resonant. Almost identical in weight to my Cu24 (~8lb) and they both sing!

I have a 90 standard and they are great guitars.  I did change the pickups on mine (but it came with a vintage bass & SD JB).  I put Rebel Yells in it and they sound great.  However the original T & B PRS pickups do sound really good.  You should check to see if you have the ones with the magnets as slugs (to give more of a Fender single coil in the split sounds).  Have fun with it.

Cool, I like the simpler, plainer-looking PRS models!

You don't see too many PRS guitars in "relic" condition, although I did once buy an EG from a guy who had a Custom with a big patch by the pickups worn right down to the wood.

Really nice! Reminds me of my friends (similarly old-school) PRS. His is alder-bodied, maple + rosewood neck. Resonant as hell, sounds great and is naturally reliced.

He did change the pickups after a while, for Lindy Fralin PAFs IIRC. Had a HFS/VB combination there originally, I think..

Very nice, indeed! I also like the plainer models. Actually, the only one that is slightly blingy that I like is Dave's modern eagle.
