The rich are interesting people

Today I was working with a swimming pool installation company, obviously some one was having a swimming pool fitted. Now I didn't think much of the job until I arrived at the house.

Must of cost 2 million easy, add to that a purpose built 20 ft swimming pool with a 6ft by 6ft top of the line jacuzzi nestled nicely in the back garden which had an unobstructed view of the surrounding farms, I can only imagine how awesome it must be at night.

The house, enormous, detached and a driveway you could get lost in.

Recession? what recession!  :lol:

Oh come on 38th & Twinfan - you're making massive assumptions here.  Contrary to popular belief, not every successful person is a Gordon Gecko-esque figure that works 90+ hour weeks.

If you define "success" as the size of house someone owns, then there are a variety of ways to succeed - financial acumen (understanding the housing market & making the right decisions),  luck (being in the right place at the right time), inheritance, hard work (ever see that daytime TV program about how to pay off your mortgage in 3 years?) & merit (some people really are that brilliant).

I for one don't begrudge anyone a large house (except perhaps those who got it through criminal activity).  If they found a way to earn enough to buy it then good luck to them...

Actually, Steve has also made a massive assumption that the residents of this apparently lovely house are "rich".  Yes, relative to most of the folk posting on here they probably are.  But someone 60s that has been in gainful employment since their 20s, advnaced their career during that entire time, bought property during the crashes of the 70s & 90s, & didn't fall for "get rich quick" scams such as endowment mortgages should have accumulated enough wealth for a large house & comfortable retirement.

I have an idea which I'm working on which should bring in about £1m of income per year.  I'm sure I can get it to work (the maths says it will) so once I've done some more work I need to find the £1.5m - £2m to get it off the ground.

If it works, then I could be in this catagory in five or so years....... will I be happy?....... I'll be chuffic exstatic  :lol:

It seemed to be owned by a younger family, kids bikes in the garden, trampoline, playhouse, toys etc.

I'm not jealous of rich people, I'm not fussed if I'll never earn a million. Just as long as I can pay the bills and be comfortable.
