DIY pedal mods

Hey, guys! I hope this is the right forum...

Are these any good? (here's two links i found: http://www.monteallums.com/Product_links.html (actual kits) and http://www.guitartone.net/products.htm just instructions- i don't mind whether it's a kit or just instructions, I could buy the components from somewhere like Maplin)

Are they as good or comparable to Keeley mods/analogman mods? It's academic somewhat, cos i'm not shipping my existing pedals to Keeley in the states, and he doesn't offer mods on some of the pedals I have... Just wondering if anyone has tried them...

The SD1 mod would be the one where I'd like to know how it'd compare to the Keeley mod, since I don't actually have an SD-1 yet (I can buy a new Keeley-modded SD-1 here in the UK).

Thanks for your time

And, if anyone should know if these mods are available for free... (the schematics only, obviously ;) )- oh yeah, I have a boss MD2, CS3, TR2 and a dunlop gcb95 crybaby

cheers,

dave

Hi Dave,  I have made the CS-3 and BD-2 mods from Monte and loved the effect.  The only problem was on the BD-2, there is a lot of work and you have to dismantle the whole thing (pots and jacks too).  If you are handy with a soldering iron, then I would really recommend them.
So many pickups, so little time

I found this link recently:

http://www.buildyourownclone.com/index.html

I think it's an American company, I only assume that they should ship worldwide.

It's more than good, sounds just like the phase 90 mxr used to make (Script logo).

I built a few Build Your Own Clone pedals - Fuzz Face, Tone Bender, Ross Comp, Phase 90, Range Master booster.  He's a good bloke - replies to e-mails and ships quickly.  The main reason for buying the kits was lazyness (didn't want to make the PCBs myself) and a desire to tinker.  Amazingly everything has worked 1st time.  He sells Tube Screamer boards for $5 and I plan to build one of those over Christmas.

Keely's web old site is still up there and has the info on how he does his Boss SD-1 and DS-1 mods.

DS-1 http://www.robertkeeley.com/audio6l6/dstech.html

Here's a good forum for all your pedal building questions

Somewhere that sells pedal PCBs.  Have never used them so don't know if they're any good.  http://www.generalguitargadgets.com/

Bainzy, How lush (is that the word?) is your Build Your Own Clone Phase 90?  I prefer a Boss PH-2 to the BYOC 90.  The BYOC sounds very subtle to me.  Are MXR 90's subtle (I've never used one)?  Perhaps I wired my 90 up wrong.

I've noticed with the trimpot inside you really have to tweak it carefully to get it to stand out a lot, but when you do it's quite bold. I'm thinking about trying to make the effect less 'wet' as it's a bit too full on sometimes, unless I'm doing something crazy like the intro to 'Atomic Punk' by Van Halen, or something that I really like to hear the phaser sound in such as the phaser sounds in Dark Side of The Moon.

By the way, my current avatar that has my phaser in now - 'Bainzy's Hazard Phaser', that pedal is the reason I had the previous avatar. I'm entering the pedal in the BYOC pedal pageant, when it starts I'd be really grateful if you guys could vote for mine to win as I really could use the smallbearelec.com vouchers.
