First bit of music I've written for ages
« on: September 08, 2010, 09:59:33 PM »
I think I've finally got the "guitar buzz" back, coincidentally after getting my SG properly set up/fret dressed - it's effortless to play now and definitely my no.1 even without bareknuckles! It just sounds awesome to me. Anyway this track is a pretty generic punk-rock style track, a bit social distortionish in places. All it needs now is better production, tighter playing and some angist-ridden vocals

Guitar setup is pretty much the same as always - Gibson SG w/stock pickups into a Laney GH50L/G12H30 cab. Recorded on my ancient (by computer standards) laptop with and SM57, Edirol UA-25EX and Reaper.

Great pop punk track, Tom. I'm quite fond of some good rocking pop punk. There's a bit of rockabilly to some of the lead parts which really reminds me of Rancid.

In many ways the track reminds me of my old band called PinBoys.

I like this a lot :D Not usually a big fan of female vocals in rock but this is great.

Nice one Tom :D

I knew you'd get the buzz back...

And, er, how much tighter do you want the playing?

Sounds good to me-- my only tweak would be to shorten the intro-- have less repeats of that intro lick so the vocals would come in sooner; i think at the moment they'd start at around 0:34? If you get them in earlier, it grabs the listener a bit more :)

i thought it good fun too, if you walked into a pub and some band was batting that out (with some lyrics) you'd
smile and stay, well i would.

Thanks, I think that may be the best compliment I've had so far about my music :D

And Oli I know what you mean. If I ever do get round to having someone do vocals over it I'll shorten the intro a bit :)
