I was just looking up the progess on the backwards compatability which now seems to be a ps2 in a box that connects to the ps3 via ethernet

when i came across this, its old but incredibly interesting
http://www.usatoday.com/tech/news/techinnovations/2005-04-06-sony-patent_x.htm

I also found another about the ps3 sensing your emotions
http://startupmeme.com/sonys-patent-emotion-sensor-tech/

If they perfected both of these it could put the PS3 light years ahead of the competition especially the first one.

However i think it will more be used for blind people etc because if they could get a webcam that you can clip somewhere discretely and it can send images directly to your brain that would be completely revolutionary if very sci fi.

That sounds almost exactly like Kathryn Bigelow's 1995 film Strange Days, which by bizarre coincidence I was watching last night!
