After a 2 month wait I finally got my agile 8 string, I've been playing it since I got home and only just worked out how to adjust the action. Was going to take a photo but lighting was cr@p so I will do one tomorrow if I remember. Doesn't look like I've been charged for import duty either. :D

That's a fine looking guitar. I like that it's not totally metal looking (all black). Big congrats!

The courier pays the import duty, they'll send you an invoice for it in a week or two :(

That looks interesting. I have often wondered what it must be like to play and how it would be tuned. It must open up all kinds of opportunities but does it also restrict your playing as the neck is presumably wider. Great looking guitar btw.

Bought 2 agiles, this is what happened both times. I believe if it's sent USPS then the post office demands payment before they'll deliver it, however UPS and Fedex pay it and then recover it from you subsequently.

Not really a fan of black guitars these days, I don't think they look right if you wear one with jeans and a black band t-shirt.

Tuning low to high is F#BEADBGE, the low B is brighter than I expected, probably due to the scale length but really helps with definition on the F#

proper pic now added to original post :D

How's the build quality of these out of the case mate? any scratches, marks etc?

Is it easy to get your fingers around the longer scale length?

I'm looking to get an 8 string but I'm wondering whether to get a Schecter Damien Elite 8 or go with an Agile.

If you don't mind me asking how much did it cost after VAT?

Not had the VAT yet so and can't remember what I worked it out as but something like £700 or £750.

It's Korean so build quality is probably on par with the Schecter, this is only my 2nd guitar so your probably better asking on the seven string forum. Scale length isn't a problem at all for me, it's the width of the neck you have to worry about. The jump from 6 to 7 doesn't seem that bad but 7 to 8 is a much larger step, mostly a case of getting used to it. I'm doing my low down power chords with index and pinky, bending notes needs some readjusting and I got ringing open strings when I tap now for some reason but sweeping is fine.

Main reason I went with the Agile is for the scale length to carry the tone of the low F#, I've played the Ibanez RG2228 and RGA8 with a .072" on the 27" scale, felt really slack so I was wondering how a much thicker string would affect the sound and having heard some recording that I wasn't keen on I took the risk on the agile. Agile having the bonus of neck through :D

Had a look at string tensions earlier if you interested

len 28.6"
^F,,,   .072" nw == 7.74kg
^F,,,   .074" nw == 8.13kg

len 27"
^F,,,   .072" nw == 6.9kg
^F,,,   .074" nw == 7.25kg

len 26.5"
^F,,,   .072" nw == 6.64kg
^F,,,   .074" nw == 6.98kg

They're made in the same factory as Schecter, so it's really just a case of workingout the cost and features (which nearly always goes in Agile's favour).

Although saying that, that Schecter is a lot of bang for the buck

The exchange rate really adversely effects Agiles at the moment. When I bought my Septor ($100 or so less) it cost me comfortably under £400. It's helped to curb my GAS (which Agile are really terrible for) though.
