Hey, my names Nate, im new to the forums, and fairly new to BKP's as well. I was reccomended them by another member off of Ultimate-Guitar's forum. I came, I listened, I died. You can get some excellent tone out of a lot of these pickups! :)
So anywho, to my question. Well, sometime early next year, im going to be getting a Fender '60s Strat (Mexi Classic Series Reissue), and I want to mod it out. Im probably going to be going with the vintage white finish on this beast, seeing as I love the white/rosewood look. I also plan to replace the pickgaurd with a Red-Tortoise Shell type look (So basically think SRV's "Scotch"). I also plan to go for the whole vintage white/cream hardware look as well, so to my first question, how well does the BKP's "Vintage Cream" cover match that old vintage look that im after?
Second, im not totally sure weather I will change the pickups on this Strat, but I probably will end up doing so. So, im a trouble spot here, im not sure which BKP's I want to go with. Im really in love with the Mother's Milk as of now, but those Irish Tour's(gotta love Rory) sound absolutely fantastic too. So between the two, which would you reccomend for me? Or can you reccomend me something else? :) (musical preferances are below).
For the type of tone im after, well my love is Blues, and its basically all I play. My hero's include Stevie Ray, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Robert Cray, John Mayer, James Marshall, etc. So I would want something that can get me that Stevie Ray texas tone dirt, plus an AMAZING clean tone as well, seeing as I mostly play clean. :)
Third, I am located in the States(Minnesota), so how do I go about getting my set of 'pups?
And fourth, just out of interest. It seems as if a lot of your pickups, and there name, are based off a certain Guitarist n whatnot. So, what might the Mother's Milk be based off? I didnt quite get that one.
Thanks for taking the time to read this, and hopefully help with my search. I hope to continue be a member of this great forum.
Keep on playin',
Nate.
