Yes it is true. Ron ( of R/2E) did it for me today and fitted a 4 way switch. I have had only 10 minutes to play tonight as I am out shortly but first impressions are "wow". There is the richness that I have come to know from BKP's - nice airy character- light and dark. Bite when you want it, subtlety and bags of tone. It is a Mexican guitar picked up for a really cheap price from a moron that buys guitars and then sells them at stupid prices ( pty that in some ways I have lost touch with him even if I cannot stand the man). It sounds, so far, like a good old Tele. The 4 way is a treat too
Thanks to Ron- for his fitting and advice, also to Tim for his advice and guidance and the BKP gentlemen. If I get a chance I will post a clip- things should quieten down after C**istmas for me hopefully.

Nice! Congrats on your axe!

What does the 4th position sound like? Is it like a fatter 2nd position or rather a neck humbucker sound? Is it balanced or rather a quack sound?

A bit early to say but yes it is a bitter more punchy rather than fatter. I will get a chance to give it a good going over at a rehearsal shortly and I will let you know for sure.

Peterku, I had a short play today at a decent volume as the neighbours were out for a while and yes the 4th position is indeed fatter. The sound is essentially the same as having the two pups on but with extra grunt- very pleasing. Drive the amp a bit and it is wonderful. I am not sure about the C & W Lulusg. I generally use this guitar for a few bits of slide tuned to open D but it has come alive and so I hope to use it for a lot more- Great so far- we have a rehearsal at gig volume next week so it'll be interesting.
Ratty, I did quickly record the stock pups the other day on a blues jam track.. When I get time I will record the Country Boys and if the result is meaningful, will post it. I also played around with a few chords for the same reason.

I used the guitar tonight at a rehearsal- the first time I have used it properly since the pup swap ( or pimping as Johnny Mac would say). I decided to use it all night to get a good idea of what the CB's could do and they did not disappoint. The bridge pup was fantastic. All the usual Tele bite but with a warmth- the stock ( Mexican) pups were not bad but were a bit harsh and I rarely used the bridge pup it on its own. The neck was really nice and woody- a warm and rich tone- great for rhythm. Together ( in parallel)  they had that lovely Tele twang but the series setting was the highlight for me- bloody excellent- really drives nicely and breaks up beautifully and is much fatter. Anyone out there with a Tele, get the four position switch.  Generally the highs are there but are thicker and not shrill ( as the stock pups were a bit) and the mid range tones are there- the stock pups were weak in that area too. I found that I had to remove some mids from the amp. The best thing was that my band mates noticed- the clue was that Ised the Tele all night . I have a gig Thursday night and on New Years eve- It'll be interesting to see what they are like at gig volume and I shall report back.

I would look forward to that :)

I've always dug the Telecaster vibe, and if I got one I might well load it with Country Boys.  (When not indulging Sabbathesque power chord fantasies, I like a bit of sweet single coil sparkle and twang :))
