Strat HSS pickups for something like this...?
« on: October 16, 2010, 07:19:16 AM »
I'm pretty much set on getting some Trilogy Suites for the middle and neck positions but I'm still not quite sure about the bridge humbucker. Was originally thinking about the Holy Diver for the versatility but maybe the Miracle Man would be better suited for something like on the clip below? Standard alder body, maple neck/fretboard specs on the Strat with the exception of a Floyd Rose...

We4ll, the miracle man will certainly eat that tone for breakfast and spit it right back at you. I would expect the holy diver to be able to handle that, too, if I'm honest - based on my own experiences with the lower output black dog and a miracle man. You'll find 'pinch harmonics' is quoted very often in the same sentence as 'holy diver' on these forums, so my conjecture would be if you're after the versatility in addition to the higher gain tones like Blind Guardian, the holy diver will not disappoint, especially in alder.

I agree. HD would be a good choice.
Mules, VHII, Crawler, MM's, IT's, BG50's.

Thanks for the replies guys! I originally specified my needs as more on the traditional side of metal/hard rock when I asked Tim for advice and he suggested the Holy Diver and Trilogy Suites. But since you seem to think the HD can also easily do the Blind Guardian stuff then I guess Holy Diver it is! :D

BTW, You wouldn't happen to know if it's possible to order the bridge humbucker to be compatible with the three screw mounting that is typical on Fat Strat pickguards or will I just need to drill an additional hole to the pickguard to install the BKP?

Let us see pics and hear clips when you have it!

Can't help with your pickup mounting query though I'm afraid - best fielding that one to Tim...
