My GUITAR started making a weird noise (metallic kinda ching)

Well the subject title says it all but its developed a metallic ching kinda reverby sound since i moved it across the room when i play hard palm mutes.

Do you think it could be the spring reverb even though its not on?

Or could it be something else? I dont really know too much about valve amps to analyse it myself

Could me a microphonic valve - try swapping the small ones around to see if it goes away or not  :)

Ok i've actually noticed now that it isnt the amp at all its the new guitar

Whenever i play an E hard (doesnt matter where on the neck)

I get a metallic/reverby sound.

I am pretty certain its going to be something to do with the Edge bridge

what would the most likely culprit be? the springs?

and what would be the best way to resolve or minimalise this?

Been doing a bit of googling and it turns out its a very common problem on guitars with floating trems especially extended scale ones.

It seems to referred to as 'spring ring'

now i just need to find a cure other than the common stuff cottom balls under the cavity plate as that just seems cheap lol.

It can be either spring ring or the strings on the headstock reverberating
try a hair band - or an elastic band on the headstock - see if it goes
Otherwise it could be the trem springs , and you may have to dfampen them with a bit of sponge or something

i also found this which seems like a good non messy option as ill soon have the treml no in there and already have a goldo back box.

Right guys sorry to keep this going but its still happening lol.

I've ruled out the amp completely as i even get it when using the toneport not as severe (probably due to volume differences) but its still there.

I have tried everything which has gotten rid of the majority of the spring noise.

Tried the bobble on the strings behind the nut

i then noticed that it also happens to the same extent (now that the spring ring is gone) with my RGA which is fixed with a gibralter standard.

The only thing i can think of now is the strings themselves.

Whats led me to this is i restrung both guitars last week with ernie balls because moneys running a bit low and this is around about the time that i noticed this.

So could it be the sound of the strings hitting the fretboard getting amplified as i mute??

If so im stuck with this problem for another week until payday.
