Hey guys,

I'll be collecting a new PRS CE24 soon enough and would like some advice.

Ill be playing in standard tuning or drop d occasionally - same sort of vibe as DEP, but avant-gardeish too as it changes from clean to high gain quite dramatically through a Bad Cat Hot Cat 15.

I was thinking a cold sweat for the bridge - need it nice and tight but not too bassy/muddy
and a riff raff possibly for neck. would like it as bright and clean as possible.

Im constantly using my volume alot and changing between the pickups.

I posted a similar thread before but since i have changed guitar.

Would this be a good combo or can anyone recommend another option.

Cheers

Patience, patience!

I don't know anything about Dillinger Escape Plan, but those pickups will certainly be very bright in a guitar with a bolt-on maple neck.  Which may be what you want.

Is it a regular mahogany/maple bodied CE or an alder one?
BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds
BKPs I Had:  RY+Abraxas, Crawlers, BD+SM

im gonna go out on a limb here and make my own recommendation based off what i already have.

I'm gonna recommend a painkiller in the bridge and a rebel yell in the neck.  I REALLY like how my rebel yell neck pickup gives me very bluesy, jazzy tones but can also scream if it needs to, and the painkiller in the bridge is one of the tightest pickups ive heard in quite a while.  Lots of muscle and clarity.

Why not a calibrated Rebel Yell-set? The RY-neck is not too hot and will do clean stuff very well.

my only concern with the painkiller is maybe it has too much gain like the C-Pig??

is the RY a really warm pickup? I was after a more brighter pickup or can that handle it??

The RY bridge is bright - compared with the Cold Sweat, it has less bass and probably a bit less piercing treble, but more in the way of upper mids.

I haven't tried the RY neck model, but it's been described as a hybrid of the VHII and Cold Sweat neck models, so I'm guessing it's fairly warm (but nowhere near muddy).  If you want a bright neck pickup, Riff Raff is probably the one.
