Would be fun for about 10 minutes until grease and tarnish dull out all your favourite scales  :?

...just a coated string that is attracted to black light...cool....personally, I have never liked the feel or tone of any coated string
...I did really dig those 24 k gold Maxima strings back in the day, however!

You can just tell that all the screamo/80s throw back/techno influenced bands are going to be using these.

You can still get the gold strings, changed their name from Maxima to Optima.
Just google it, they're available in quite a few places.

Brian May and a few others use them, it seems. I've used them but my playing on the Strat at least, needs the bass strings to twang a bit down low, and they weren't doing so with the Optimas, the attack was too soft. Never found anything to beat Slinkys for my playing.

Well if they are as good as there other coloured strings they should be awesome!

I normally use the pinks for preference and I love them.

What if there are no neon lights where you are playing?

A bit 80's, like brightly coloured leg warmers and spokey dokes.  And the certainly would dull and tarnish although to be fair not much above the 12th fret for myself.....

Yeah, but they're primarily for gigging, so it would be less of an issue.

Wait, gold plated strings!!! That must of been awesome, bright and never rusts.

Neon strings would be cool for a music video, not practical for live performances though if the tone is bad.
Working on it.
