Your 'Signature' B.K.P - Which one ?
« on: October 23, 2010, 07:48:47 PM »
One that I thought might be of interest to casual browsers / new customers , as well as creating a bit of  'coffee  break contemplation' from the  existing B.K.P users:

If you had to own / Gig / promote just ONE of the B.K.P range for your main style - which one would be your personal 'Excalibur' - and in which style / type of guitar ?

( For the new readers I must of course emphasise that a variety of the B.K.P range  do very nicely in any given  setting, but I wanted  the B.K.P groupies / old guard  to declare a pack leader for their very own sonic signature. )

I will set the ball rolling with the 'Manhattan' - for Jazz,  in any fully hollow archtop.  :)

Fire away chaps !

Black Guard flat 50s for me. They more than competently cover all of the tonal bases I need.
I think I hate being indecisive.

Without any hesitation: Crawlers in a Vox Custom 24 or any similar guitar (Gibson Marauder or like or any very bright LP may be a good fit), into any decent cranked valve amp. Best ROCK tone I've ever had, and I'm not the only one that says so...
Have: Crawlers, BGF 50/52s, Mules, ABomb, RiffRaff
Had : Slowhands (n&m), Trilogy (b)

This turned out to be surprisingly difficult for me to answer... but then I realised it's because I don't have a "main style" anymore

If someone was to ask which one would I take to a gig/session where I might have to do all sorts of stuff, I'd probably go for Blackguard Flat 50s in an ash-bodied, maple-necked tele, with a four-way switch to give me the both-in-series sound as well. I could pretty much do anything I'm capable of then.

But if you want me to be "Andrew Russe"... I'd show up with Irish Tours in a 60s Roadworn Strat - so I guess that's my Signature set
