http://www2.gibson.com/Products/Electric-Guitars/Firebird/Gibson-USA/Firebird-X.aspx

WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?!

Ash body
Robo Tuners
Maple Neck
Brazilian Marblewood Fretboard
Alnico B & N pickups with a Ceramic Middle
11 position gear shift knob
Built in Mod, Echo/Reverb & Distortion, EQ and compression
'pickup programming' switch
Piezo Bridge

Oh Gibson, please take a not from Fender's book and produce some quality instruments at a decent cost rather than investing in cr@p like this.

Well it is nearly Halloween and that is really monstrous so I suppose it's appropraite for the time of year.  I can think of other things I'd rather spend five and a half grand on, pretty much anything else that costs five and a half grand now I come to think of it.  :|

It looks like a boy racer guitar, like it would belong in the back of one of those souped up saxos with the two tone purple paint, the blue lights under the sills, a broken treble setting on the stereo and with an empty catering size tin of beans for an exhaust.

Mind you the first thing that popped into my head was 'Oh it's a blinged up Jackson Dominion!'.

Except it's not even like a 'souped up boy racer guitar' (surely that accolade is always won by a pointy dean of some type). It's got those horrible tele/jazz/stang rounded, bulbous corners.

This is certainly one of the worst looking and most poorly designed guitars I've seen for a long time.

yo, that video is terrible.

"nobody has looked at the guitar for quite some time blah blah blah...."

I think other people have made more innovative steps away from the traditional guitar while keeping things sensible and aesthetically pleasing. Steinbergers might polarize opinion on looks but its just one example.

The keep saying they are historically a big innovator when it comes to guitar, and this has always been the case and they carry it forward. I just don't see it.

Nope the pointy deans are the American muscle cars that don't do corners. That gibson is most definitely a saxo/corsa/civic/fiesta derivative!

It's a nova with foot-well lights and a fake carbon fibre dash.

I think I've seen uglier guitars. The design isn't that awful to me, but the technological ideas are far from apealing!!!

Horrible. It appears to be almost universally hated. What I can't understand is market research? Do they do any? Obviously not and if they do - who the hell do they ask? David Blunketts dog by the look of it.
