Pickups for Walnut Guitar
« on: October 31, 2010, 06:27:24 AM »
Hi all,

I recently got a killer deal on a Caparison MF07 HGS Horus. Its got a walnut body with a maple neck and fretboard. I am having trouble deciding what BKPs to throw in. I was recommended a miracle man bridge and trilogy suite for the neck, but I am thinking about going more mid to lower output with this pickup set. I also prefer alnico to ceramic in most instances. Anybody have any ideas of what would work well in this beast?

What sort of music/tone are you after? What amp do you use?

I play heavier progressive stuff. I am running an Axe-Fx Ultra and lately been using the Bogner and 5150 models. I already have a guitars with c-pigs, holy divers, and painkillers. I liked the c-pig for sheer brutality and fatness, but I think the holy diver was my favorite of the contemporaries. I hated the painkiller's voicing. It made everything sound like a thin single coil to me. I am interested in trying out some of the vintage hot models, but was recommended the miracle man and ts combo by Nick from the Axe Palace.

Hi Robert. You could have let me know you wanted a lower output alnico pickup and I could have recommended something else for you :)  Anyways I think the Rebel Yell would be great in that guitar, as would the Emerald.

Hi Nick,

I kinda of just thought about it after we talked. The c-pig you got me sounds amazing, but yeah I think I want to start messing with the lower gain options. What single coil pairs well with the RY bridge?

The Trilogy would be really great in that Caparison and pair well with the RY bridge.
