help blocking a trem

I just got this PRS SE Standard (I guess it was some special gold edition that was done), it plays great  (although It needs some hotter pickups for my uses) I want to block the trem, (I don't really use it at all) and I'd like to do it without having to buy a tremel-no or something like that, I've heard/read about guys using wood or pennies to do the trick, any suggestions?

someone who owns a guitar with a trem might have some ideas.
I'd have thought you could add more springs and/or increase the tension of them, so it just pulls back and flattens out and the string tension won't really phase it.

I don't think I've seen one with black hardware like that, it looks good with the gold finish.

Yes and my wood was hard and wide enough to fill her up...

Does it pinch getting it into such a tight slot? Also do the curly springs resonate when you're pummelling away?

Here's how I did it: I super glued a couple of stacks of pennies together (pre-1983 pennies, because they are made of 95% copper as opposed to zinc, and they carry the vibration better to the body from the block) and then just tightened up the springs to pull it all together.
MAN, what an improvement! It beefed up the tone of the guitar a LOT, I was really impressed (I still need to slap some BK Painkillers in there though!)
I dig this mod, I'm still shocked at how much it improved/beefed up the tone.

I'd have put the coins the other side of the block as that's the direction it would move if you bend strings if I'm not mistaken.

If its done only so he can downtune where it is is ideal however.

Depends if the user wants to be able to dive only or not as tis would still keep that functionality just so long as the coins are only glued to the body and not the trem block

the coins are only glued to themeselves, they are just wedged in between the trem block and the wood, then I just tightened up the springs to pull the trem block tight against the pennies/body, I tried putting some blocks of pennies against the back of the trem block as well, but it made the tone too dark for my liking, the way I have it now is perfect for me.
