8 string single coil?
« on: November 07, 2010, 04:25:27 AM »
hey guys,

did not see a 8-string option for single coils in the bkp shop. anyone knows if it is possible to order a 8-string single coil? thought i will ask here before bugging tim.

say will a sinner in the neck match in terms of output with either an aftermath or miracle man in the bridge or will you recommend something else for clean/hairy melodic chording and the occasional high gain lead?

best,
dani

I don't believe an 8-string single is possible, they've only just tooled up for doing 7-string singles. Ask them though, there may be something I'm not aware of.

The Sinner does match well with the Aftermath (I have that very combination in one of my guitars) or Miracle Man. It's a fantastic sound - like the best parts of a single coil and a humbucker mixed together.

just a thought. if tim can build a 8-string humbucker i can't see why a single coil can't be done since a humbucker uses two single coil bobbin. granted the bobbin of a humbucker may be different from a true single coil but the tools/machine used are the same no? i reckon that a cover for a 8-string single coil can be pretty elusive though.

No, the designs of a single coil and humbucker are entirely different I'm afraid.
