Nailbomb in Strat
« on: November 09, 2010, 07:40:33 PM »
Hello all! new to the forum here :)

Okay so i have a stratocaster, and i wanna put a nailbomb in it. Would i have to do anything other than just replacing the standard humbucker with the nailbomb and calling it a day? or are there issues with the tone and volume pots.

Thanks!

Well, it would be a good idea to find out what value pots are in there first. If they are 500k, then they should be fine. If they are 250k, you still don't need to change them but most people use 500k. Other than that, I can't imagine why it wouldn't work. I did the same with my strat and a MM set.

If they are 250k then the pickup will sounda  bit darker and less open.

But i reckon if theres a humbucker in there it will already have a 500k pot for that pickup

So from what i gathered, 500k is preferable, but 250k wont be a problem either, awesome, win/win.
Thanks for the help guys!
