Torn between Warpig & Nailbomb
« on: November 18, 2010, 11:43:16 AM »
New to the forum. Hello. I know this might be a common question, but all the research I'm doing online doesn't really seem to be helping much. Pickup sound descriptions are so vague. Seems like every pickup in the world (including BKP) has "tight bass response, smooth mids, and clean highs" or some other variation of buzzwords.

I'm getting a Fernandes Vertigo Elite. Mahogany body with a set neck. Going into a Diezel modded Boss MT-2 to a Fender Bassman 10 combo.

I'm only going to need a neck pickup (don't often play bridge position, too trebly for my style) as the other pickup will be a sustainer. The kind of sound I'm going for with this guitar is a very aggressive, flamethrower-type sound. Very dark, but with precise, tight bottom-end. This song by Norma Jean is a good example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f1Dazil5vC4. 0:00 - 0:03 and 1:19 - 1:40 especially. Those two sections are what I need out of this guitar.

What I've read mostly is that Warpigs have more bass response while Nailbombs are more balanced. Do Warpigs sound muddy then? I just can't understand why someone would choose Warpigs over Nailbombs unless they were going for absolute sludge. Thanks for the help!
