Sd curlee or jap version anyone know much about them, seen one in local shop painted gold.....weirdly covering the odd neck plate
this is an unpainted one

I don't know much about them, but I remember seeing pictures of S.D. Curlee basses a long time ago.  Don't think I've ever seen a guitar before.

It looks like a bolt-on neck with a very long tenon, almost a neck-through!

yeah with paint over it confused me to what the large rectangular recess was..until saw the pic..also found out brass nut, bridge and 70's white dimazio's think are Super distortion or similar

I wonder if it was a Hondo version?  A lot of those early '80s Hondos had DiMarzio pickups, even really cheap Les Paul copies. 

The pickups certainly looked like Super Distortions, but I don't know if they were the "real thing" or a similar pickup DiMarzio made on the cheap.

yeah apparently the jap ones made under licence...but similar spec....cr@p tuners

Is a gold version says sg custom on it but think has had good respray at some time can't find another gold on

Is a weird retro solid skylark which is odd shape, cr@p electronics on it but once put decent bridge pickup in and sorted bad wiring is a great playin good sounding guitar is a bit of a marmite guitar looks wise

Nah the gold sd curlee prob copy is first one have seen in a shop in about 20 years, needed some adjuster screw for one of bridge pieces and will change out tuners. Electrics on it are good and the dimazio's seem good
