Hi,
Sorry to bump an old thread, but I recently bought a set of Nailbombs for my Ibanez RG2620, and was looking for some advice.
Firstly, I've just got the stock polarity, not realising that the original neck pickup has this reversed. If I wire as per the diagram(s) above (i.e. just do a straight replace of the stock pickups), what effect will this have? My understanding is that I'll simply lose hum-cancelling on the "inner-coils" position. It should otherwise sound the same...
An alternative to this might be to reverse the orientation of the neck Nailbomb so that the screw poles face the bridge, thus reversing the poles. Or I could alter the switching so that the bridge-most/slug coil of the neck gets voiced with the bridge-most/screw coil of the bridge pickup. Will either of those work, or am I running into potential out-of-phase problems?
I'm also going to have to do a bit of routing on the RG to fit the Nailbombs. In particular, the screw poles stick a long way clear of the base-plate, so I'll need to drill some holes in the bottom of each rout to accommodate this. Does anyone have any advice/experience on that? I don't want to go drilling straight through to the spring cavity, or to accidentally run into the trem-claw screws!
Cheers,
Si
