Paul Gilbert + MR Big fans - New Video/Single - Undertow
« on: November 30, 2010, 10:21:25 PM »
My life just got a little better.... Their new single really goes back to the first/second album hard melodic rock style I love.

Plus, I know some will be really happy that an "affordable" Ibanez PGM Fireman is going to be released in 2011 (I don't care too much for it myself but the original was a crazy collectors price guitar)

its very much my taste, and the tone too.. i just got 'Fuzz Universe' off I tunes and listening to it. Those DiMarzio Injector pickups looks very interesting. Lots of temptations as a result of this thread, and Paul Gilbert's recent activities generally.

Loving the lushness of the choruses now that Gilbert and Sheehan are better/more practiced  singers than they were 20 years ago.

I think the fireman would be the perfect SC guitar for me, want/need/must have.

Also, besides to be with you, undertow is the first Mr Big Track i've heard.

It is awesome..that is all

jeezus!!! - the years haven't been kind on Billy Sheenan.  otoh, Paul Gibert seems to have found the elixir of youth, or maybe he has a grotesque painting locked up in the attic.

love the guitar tone and playing - glad he's reigned in his shredding and uses in as and when needed for light and shade.

i also think that when he does shred that hes far better than in the 80s and 90s - more musical, and hes tighter too

When they release it, the cheaper one, I am so going to give one a whirl. The pickups and the guitar are equally interesting.

Really like the song, the riff has a bit of a metal edge to it that I enjoy. Not a fan of the solo on this song, though. Sounds like Gilberto had no ideas.

Gilbert ALWAYS has ideas. Some of his songs are kind of confused because he tries to fit so much in one go. If Paul Gilbert is playing something simple, it's because he want to.
