hmm.. always thought nobody made a better looking or more iconic modern V style guitar than Jackson. play em both if you can and decide which one sounds better

I really like the look of those LTDs, but they're actually quite different guitars - bolt on vs set-thru, floyd vs tune-o-matic, alder vs mahogany, Duncans vs EMGs... I would have thought the choice would come down to what specs you want.

I generally prefer those jacksons (MIJ for the win), but it does have a vastly different (some would say lower) spec. If you can stretch to the RR5, then that's probably a better comparison of similar(ish) specs.

so out of the 2 the LTD is probably the better quality guitar? gotta admit im drawn to the jackson. i like the shape more. id prefer the neck to not be a bolt on. im not really a heavy trem user but im not bothered about there being one on it. Is gotta have a real nice neck. i like a low action more than anything else.

ive not really heard much feedback about these brands in this price range. would anybody be wary of these brands at this price level?

had a look at the rr5 but they dont seem to do it in plain black. its got gold trim all over it. think ill have to find a shop and check them both out. the step up from the esp v-300 is gorgeous, but i really think i prefer the rr-3 shape.

that dean guitar is f*cking awful.  :?

ltd is NOT better quality at all :S

The LTD will be made in indonesia/korea while the jackson will be made in Japan. Neck diving can be fixed by repositioning the  strap locks.

I have terrible experience with ltd and esp. So i'll generally stay away from them anytime.

In my honest opinion. get this:

You dont get any better guitar. the neck is perfect. the resonance of the wood is loud enough for you to send your acoustic guitar on retirement.

Another thing is that theres made alot of parts for this guitar, so you can customize it like crazy. I for example is going to order a single humbucker pickguard, and throw in a black battleworn Nailbomb in the bridge ^^

are licensed floyd rose trems any good? ive only had experience of the one on my wmd warbeast which is specced as an original floyd rose (i dont know the difference). its rock solid on the warbeast. ive only had to tune it when i restring the guitar. id hate to have a shitety trem and have it not stay in tune cos tuning the warbeast initially is a right fecking pain.
