« on: December 02, 2010, 11:56:27 PM »
just did a quick comparison between my guitars, maybe someone is interested?
i'm new to recording so i guess my mix could be alot better, and the playing to ;)
i know this isn't the best way to comparing but i share anyway.
all three are recorded with same settings on my pod hd 300.
Song is called Burning Times By Iced Earth

Jackson RR1T with Holy Diver
Schecter C1 Black Jack with Miracle Man
Esp Eclipse with Emg 81 18v

Very very very very very close toss up here, but I think I would say HD > MM > EMG81.

Might I also add the the HD sounded best on the individual notes, but the MM sounded best on the chugZ. There's a lot to take into account here, but that's the gist of what I'm hearing.

Oh Iced Earth! :D Good boy. Try and add another track on each clip with slightly more treble and presence on it. Then you'll get that schaffer tone ;) He has like.. 21 guitar tracks on each from what i know

Oh and btw. Its INSANE how recognisable the miracle man is.

I can hear the "pickbuzz" on each note, exactly like on my own MM equipped Mockingbird

had a few minutes over and tried a recording with 4 guitar tracks, mm to the left and hd to the right.
did change the settings a little to, not the same on mm and hd but similar.
was little curious how they sound together
i think it sound great.

Good comparison.

For me, the HD stands out as the better tone, or rather the tone I could see myself playing with.

The miracle man would sound far better in the Eclipse in my opinion.

But this comparison isn't really very fair as the guitars all have different construction, body shape, woods etc

But other than that nice work and very tight playing

The MM definitely wins it for me then EMGs (sacrilidge i know) then the HD

I can't get on with the HD sound at all don't know why
