Earvana Compensated floyd rose nut
« on: December 03, 2010, 07:19:37 PM »
Does anyone have any experience with this? Not that i'm having any major intonation problems i'd always like to make things as good as possible

Also would the R3 (1-11/16")  one fit with an Edge III? I know it fits the nut width but will everything be aligned correctly?

Thanks in advance
Tony

I think Jonathan knows a bit about Earvana and the works. Best call him.

May take a little jigging - the screw holes for fixing may be the same , but may be differently aligned.

I need to get hold of some of these as I stock and sell pretty much most of the Earvana range

Ouch, nearly 3 times the price of a regular Earvana  :o For £60 it had better be pretty special

also would the gibson style of the same nut width be fine for a fixed bridge RG?

Most RGs are 43mm wide at the nut - so a 1 11/16" shelf nut would be the one I'd suggest

Yeah, if you are bummed on the price, but still want locking, Kahler makes a behind the nut string lock/clamp you could use in conjunction with a regular Earvana nut. You'd have to get it aligned nicely to avoid the strings binding up in the nut slots, but it would work fine. I have a luthier down the street from me and he was suggesting this when I was complaining about the price of the Earvana Floyd nut, and that was when they were somewhere near $160 USD. He said that he had a few guys that just didn't wanna swap their regular nuts for a locking Floyd when they had trems installed and this was what he did for them with no problem or return. Also, if your tuners are inline with your nut slots, then locking tuners would be an OK option, providing they have straight pull.

I already have a locking nut.

I want the compensated locking nut as my guitar has a floating tremolo and i cant just fit a normal compensated nut

Then you're only option are those true temper frets. Sorry. JK :D Pay the $100, man. I'm sure you've spent more than that on musical failures by now. I know I have. *Cough*pod*cough**cough* As long as you can intonate your own guitar, it won't be any more than that $100 so go for it. Be the guinea pig who profits first. I've been eyeballin them fackers myself.
