pickup choices
« on: December 15, 2010, 01:37:42 AM »
So im building a bolt on neck guitar with an ash body, maple neck, and cocobolo fretboard. I love bareknuckle pickups and am having trouble deciding what would be the best pickup decision. I really like the Aftermath pickup. Would that be suitable for any death metal/progressive shred style stuff? I play stuff along the lines of Whitechapel, august Burns Red, Veil of Maya, etc. I heard tim usually replies to these. Any help would be appreciated.

The Aftermath seems to be building up quite a following very quickly based on the reports I've seen here. I gather it's an extremely articulated pickup that isn't too forgiving of errors but really rewards accurate playing. I can't remember how dark or bright it is as a pickup though so you perhaps need someone with more experience of it to comment. The Nailbomb is a 'go-to' pickup that seems to be able to do pretty much everything in any guitar so I guess that would be worth a look and you get the option of either a ceramic or Alnico V magnet depending on your tastes.

Your best bet to get Tim's response is to phone or e-mail him directly, details on the front page of the BKP website.

I don't know the bands you mentioned specifically so I'll hold off from any firm comments, although I suspect that the aftermath would suit...
