There are 'solderless' systems like EMG's. They use clips.
It was pointed out elsewhere that the wire from the pickups should probably be tinned.
I wonder... how often do you change pickups once you're happy?
I think you could probably do it just as fast while using solder.
Are contacts like that (as opposed to ones using solder) more at risk to corrosion over time? oxidation of the metals?Same thing that can make switching jacks intermittent?
It would be kind of cool for swapping pickups in a situation where you have no solder... but I can't think what that situation would be.
probably good if you don't know how to solder but you want to experiment with pickups all the time. take your guitar to a tech, get this fitted, then you don't have to solder.
