HookahTheFuzz CD - BKP content!
« on: December 21, 2010, 10:56:17 AM »
So i play guitar in a prog metal band and we recorded our debut cd nearly a year ago now. Its all pro recorded and i used both my BKP guitars on the CD :) Ive got the RR/PK in a musicman (main guitar at the time) and CS/PK in a Les Paul (used on the drop D stuff). Love to know your opinions on the music and obviously the tones. I played through a Boogie Mark IV for the heavy and a Fender Twin for the clean. Recorded in just a couple of weeks so i didnt spend as much time as id like tweaking the tone but im just being fussy :) Hopefully i can get my strat and LP custom BKP'd in time for the next album! Anyhow, if you like Metallica, Dream Theater or Devin Townsend you might like this. Its pretty proggy so dont expect to hear Paramore....

4 of the songs are here: http://www.reverbnation.com/tunepak/3108412

or the reverbnation site: http://www.reverbnation.com/hookahthefuzz

Cheers - i know there are plenty of metal fans on the forum so if any of you wanna hear a Painkiller in action.....

The riffs are VERY tight. Did you track the guitars to a click track?

@lulusg Thank you. Much appreciated. Definitely would like to spend more time tweaking the tones for the next cd but our producer did a great job in a relatively short time. The riff raff doesnt seem to get to much attention here on the forum but i was really pleased how it sounded for the leads

@denim n leather : Cheers man, i think thats down to the PK and amp by and large. Picked up a Les Paul Custom for chrimbo and i can really hear the tightness in the that pickup when comparing guitars. (LP still sounds knockout tho but some BKP eventually). The mark IV is pretty tight sounding to. Im sure the LOG guys use it  and that was the riff sound i was after - tim advised me well. Even through my little blackstar 5watt it sounds tight as, gonna have to record some vids or something if i can get it to come across as im hearing it infront of me .
As far as recording I actually tracked to the drums 90% of the time, i find it easier with all the feel changes and some of the odd-time stuff. Its just easier for me to lock in. Think our producer should take alot of credit though - at the very least for his patience haha

Thanks for listening guys!
