Right, well I admit I know nothing and have no tools...But that isn't going to stop me!  And I've set a time limit to have it finished by THIS sunday for rehearsles...to wow my bandmates.

I am not techinally minded or have any experience in any kind of carpentry, however I did go to art school for one year, film school for 3 years and i've just started doing a post graduate degree in journalism...

I've got this Behringer ultrastack that I have had for years, never really used, bought 3rd hand and it's wrecked. So i decided to play with it. And hopefully use it as a (sort of) fender deville meets Vox Nightrain Two amps in one Nightmare stack onstage.

Plus i'm 6'1 and i'll finally be able to change setting without bending over and showing my arse to the audience would be great.

First off I stripped the cab of it's black covering, which was suprisingly easy. (using a butter knife and a sharp pointy one)

But now comes the hard part, after asking my dad "how much tolex do i need to fit the cab?" He said "Don't order more than 2 meters, you'll waste money!" Well......

Turns out It isn't enough, but being the impatient idiot I am I decided that i muse make a start and rather than attemt to do all the side at the  same time'  I'll do the sides as two seperate pieces, then i'll have enough tolex (the same way my fender deville is covered.) So I set to Work.

But, I'm not a complete fool, I decided that i'll take some old wall paper ( also measuring with a clothes tape measure) and make a template/first attempt/practice at doing a side....

So far so good....UNTILL

THE ANGLE CAB CREASE!!!!!! and from a different angle it looks WORSE

So i've hit my first stumbeling block (and I haven't even attempted to attach the tolex) So...How do you stop getting that bloody crease? (I guess it isn't with an iron) I am also willing to go down to the shops tomorrow and buy a stanley knife...if needed.

you avoid the crease by cutting the vinyl.
I looked into doing this myself once. I found some vids somewhere but I dunno where now. it was a while ago.

I think the way the guy did it was the apply glue to the top bottom and sides, and then wrap the vinyl around the cab really tight using clamps to hold it all in place.

once that was dry he had flappy bits at the front and back right around the cab (the edges).
He had a neat little trick to cutting the corners, then marrying them up with glue applied. sort of sliding them together to make the join at the corner less apparently. but if you're using corner pieces then it probably isn't so important that you do that neatly. I can't remember exactly what it was but I'm pretty sure it involved a really sharp knife.

I decided that it was all too much work for me and i didn't have the right tools.

heres some pics that might be interesting

you'll probably find it a lot easier if you take the speakers and baffle out too.

I've just found some pins and a stanley knife, so i'm starting pinning the thing together...

and I've measured the angle of the slant in the cab so i can cut the tolex to offset it. i've been practicing on the wallpaper templates from before. This should put a stop to the pesky crease
