So I bought some coldsweats a while back for this project.

Hi all, name's Phil from chicago
I decided to heavily modify a fuji-gen Ibanez ax7 521 from 1999.

Here are the specs:
Mahogany Body
5 Piece Maple/Bubinga bolt on neck w/ rosewood fretboard
all new 5ook pots with all new Orange drops
new 5 way rotary switch
new bone nut
Schaller locking tuners

The project has been going well, and the Zebra coldsweats look great.

Anyhow, here's how it looked when I got it:

And now:

So a couple of questions,
Obviously the neck pickup is flipped in the pictures. I've researched the effect of doing so, and there seems to be mixed opinion on the matter. I figured I would plug it in and crank it up with the neck regular, then flipped. Why not right?

also, what do you think about the choice of coldsweats for this particular build?
I do a lot of cleans and a lot of grunge, and this will be my first permanent humbucking guitar in my lineup. Now mind you, I can get some pretty full distortion on my partscaster tele with kinmans, and I'm hoping this will take it to the next level without going overboard. (i'm not really into metal and the like, just grunge 90's rock etc.)

Thanks all

Welcome

I'm confused. Why dont you string and wire it up and decide if you like them?

in the process of a move , and i'm waiting for my dang brush-on shielding paint to come in the mail from stewmac. (seemed like a good idea at the time.)

so once I get er shielded up, then I'll be installing the electronics.

Oh forgot to mention, I picked up a switchcraft input as well. can't forget that haha.

If you ordered zebra Cold Sweats then the pickup isn't flipped in the picture, but that's how it should be.

Can't go too far wrong with Cold Sweats in a mahogany guitar (IMO, YMMV). You'll have loads more clarity then the Ibby stocks...
A-Pig 7s, Miracle Man & Mule, Cold Sweats... Expensive kit and no talent posse.
