« on: January 12, 2011, 11:29:43 AM »
Hi. It been a while...

I want to stay loyall to BKP instead of buying the actual pickup Satriani uses...

What do we reckon is the closes pup to the Mo'...

Maybe the VH II...

Or the Black Dog...?

Its between those two really...

Im sorry if this post has come up before. I just dont wanna trawl through the posts finding it...

Cheers. Rich.

Hi. First thankyou to all the replies. Really helpful.

Sorry. I should have mentioned. It'll first be put into a Washburn Mercury in the bridge. At the moment theres a Miracle Man in that position but its too hot.

Not sure of the timber. Its a laminate. Heavy and solid though...

It may go into a Maverick X1 in the future. This is made from Basswood. Really light.

I was thinking Black Dog too...

Cheers again to everyone... Rich.

Sorry to bring this up, but judging on what I read here, it seems the Black Dog excels at chording and rhythm work, and the VHII would be a more lead voiced pick up. Satriani himself claims that he puts much more emphasis on dialing in a good lead tone live, as he mostly plays melody. Just thinking outloud...

They are both great lead pups, you wont go wrong with either! I go along with the BD for your needs.

There's no reason the Black Dog or VHII shouldn't be seen as equally good at lead and rhythm. Just think of the Black Dog as an beefy overwound PAF.

Dude, don't listen to me too much. The other guys here can help a lot more than me, lol. Only BKPs I have heard in person are my Miracle Mans.
