emg 9v and 18v is from the same eclipse
backing track is one i have found on web a long time go,
guess you all know what song it is, but in case you wonder it is sad but true with metallica
guitar are two tracks recorded from fx send with my engl fireball 100, using speaker impulse in cubase. no filters used.

I liked the Schecter best. It seemed like it had the most "life." Good clips, these were helpful to me as I'm also looking to move from the EMG 81 to the Miracle Man. Thank you.

I change my mind, I like the Eclipse the best. You know, I just have to say that I really dig real preamps and speaker impulses way more than things like Pod and AxeFX. While they're really cool tools, I just don't like the metal rhythm sound all by itself. I've heard some mixtures of AxeFX and real amps, that's good stuff because the AxeFX adds some large, blunt, thick MASS. The leads can be stellar, but it just seems like they have a lot less chunk. You have a very believable tone here.

The tone is close but you can hear the MM has a more spongy grainy bottom and a more (by a bit) percussive sound than the 81.

I have an eclipse too with MM set. I could never get the 81 (even in DGCFAD) to sound so percussive and massive.

the EMG81 18v clip sounds the closest to Metallica's tone by a long way.

But the Eclipse with the Miracle Man has the best tone.

curious, i would have never said it, but i prefer the 9v 81 track... but maybe Madsakre is right, that's because your playing was tighter there!
