High gainer for 1 pickup shredder: Basswood body, rosewood board, Floyd...

She's got a nice, sweet voice... not the neutral/bland basswood tones you get now very often.

I'm not sure what I want with this one... probably a dedicated high gainer; clarity, tight low end, mid to high output. I don't enjoy overly piercing treble and I prefer thickness of tone overall. No mid-spike a la JB.

I was honestly thinking about a Nailbomb A5 as it seems to be the go-to modern heavy pickup, with decent versatility. But who knows what you guys will suggest... I'm open to anything!

Think you're on the right track: Nailbomb or Holydiver (smoother, less bright then NB).

This is probably a little unusual as a recommendation based on your comments, but in my experience, the miracle man was thick and very punchy in my basswood ibanez RG series. It's not an all-rounder, it really does the high gain brutal stuff best of all, but it does sit pretty well in basswood nonetheless.

You'd probably be very happy with the Nailbomb, too, mind, but they are different beasts.

I had a Miracle Man many, many, many years ago (...2005 or 2006 I think!) and I wasn't too keen on it I think...
It was in a very similar guitar to this one (both Charvel model series).


I'll listen to those EXCELLENT soundclips on the EXCELLENT new website first, but I think Nailbomb it shall be then... :)

Ok after soundclips:

The NB seems to be just 'richer' sounding than the other two... I listened mostly to the clean clips by the way (just how I do my choice).
The HD is slightly less powerful, a bit warmer in the mids and, indeed, smoother.
The Miracle Man I just preferred a little less... When I had it, I felt it would have needed a guitar with a little more character, something like a neck through all maple or a Les Paul with big maple cap. It'd have brought out the crunch in it.
The Aftermath is a MONSTER. I mean WOW. Who pissed it off so badly?? That thing is pure evil. I loved it...

the holy diver and the riff raff are the "richest" sounding bridge pickups I've ever played, imo
specially on the cleans and open chords

but I also think you need a nailbomb

I had a Riff Raff in a Les Paul and it was INCREDIBLE. So rich and beautiful sounding, with a tiny bit of extra top end aggression to the tone... perfect.
