New Rehearsal Space - John Sykes Studio
« on: January 28, 2011, 08:18:34 PM »
Been rehersing in John Sykes old "Berlin" studio in Blackpool. Not sure if he still owns the house or even if it's still in his familiy. I've been told the Blue Murder rehearsels took place there, don't know if they every recorded anything there but it's fully equipped so they could have.

Anyway, enjoy

Blimey!  That's a tenner less than I pay for a converted mushroom farm...

Good value that. I think a good rehearsal space promotes a good rehearsal so it is money well spent.

That's sweet... most of the rooms I've used have been pits  :?

You guys must have a very low standard for rehearsal rooms if that room looks great to you.

You're not kidding
Most rehearsal rooms I've seen are horrible tatty rooms with poor facilities.

Those New Yorkm ones look really good

Problem we would have in the UK is that the gear would get trashed or stolen
Don't think that is unique to here in the UK but it does seem to be the case

A friend of mine runs a rehearsal comp[lex here in Croydon and the cost of theft and repairs is frightning

That's a shame! If it weren't for Ultrasound, I would never have discovered high end amps or had the chance to play so many. It sound like a vicious cycle: people can't be trusted with the gear, so the studios don't do upkeep, which keeps everything at a low standard. Sucks for the honest people who want a clean room with good acoustics and good amps/gear!

Yeah, but that first one is 160 bucks for an evening!!! That's a hundred quid in real money!!!

Having said that, you guys in the US understand customer service way better than we do in the UK.  We have much more of a "just make do" attitude in the UK, I think.

Beehive Mill? I was in there years ago. Hit a loud chord, cloud of dust falls from ceiling. Good times.

This is the place I used to use:

http://www.studio91.net/

It's very decent and the guy who runs it is nice. He seems to have taken down some of the photos though - I'm sure there were quite a few on there last time I looked.
I think I hate being indecisive.
