'bucking my pinecaster. Suggestions?
« on: January 31, 2011, 01:41:26 PM »
So I finally set on modding my tele (refinish, armcontour, and humbucker)

I've currently got a BKP Piledriver in the bridge(which will be up for grabs later..) and im looking for a suitable humbucker to replace it with.

I'm not really looking for anything tonally similar, just something different.

some favourite guitar tones for reference as for what I'm out for would be Mark Morton(Lamb of God)'s tone. Though he uses a chambered mahogany bodied guitar with Duncan 59's in it, and is nothing similar to my pine bodied tele.

But thats what I'm aiming for, saturated semi-compressed not very tight tone. Not bright, but clear, and 'fat'.
I'm playing a great deal of thrash and deathmetal(deathcore) aswell, and would love if it fit those genres aswell.

I'm attaching a sound clip that is pretty close to what I like. Perhaps a tad more gainy/saturated and mushy at times.

(I am using a mesa recto head at the moment, but as soon as I can, I'm returning to the Mark series family, so that's what I use amp-wise)

Suggestions? I'm unfamiliar with any other tonewoods than mahogany and replacing the body is my last way out

Thanks in advance,

Regards,
Chris

I was thinking Holy Diver, since it's fat and not bright, as not really tight like the Aftermath.
Mules, VHII, Crawler, MM's, IT's, BG50's.
