Anyone got a Jackson humbucker ring?
« on: February 03, 2011, 07:07:47 PM »
From about 1989 till 1993 Jackson guitars used a larger than normal sized humbucker ring to accomodate their pickups which had a plastic cover on them - like the one shown below.
I need to find one of the oversize rings - anyone got one?

Yeah Frets on the Net is the place to go. I've dealt with him. Good guy.

But as far as the guitar goes....

+1, I've wanted to get my hands on one for years but every time one has shown up, I've never had the money.

I had to come back and look at that again, lol. I wish the fingerboard was darker and that's it. Yummy. One thing I've always wondered about the angled bridge humbucker... Why don't they angle it the other way? It's angled like that to get an even volume across all strings, but it makes the high end even more shrill. If you have adjustment screws, why not angle the other way and get chunkier low strings and take some edge off of the high ones?

Yes the guitar in the picture is a Charvel 88ltd - not the one I'm working on (that's a Charvel 750)

I used to have a Charvel 88 - and it was nice but the heel was huge - such a shame on an otherwise cool guitar

just from looking at it, it looks like the humbucker is in the usual position under the treble strings, it seems to be angled back towards the neck on the bass strings?

Just from looking at it, I could be way off...
