Just been wondering what you guys think would be the closest BKP to the Rio Grande BBQ / Texas humbucker set?

I think the BBQ, which a friend had in a guitar, is way more aggressive then the Crawler. especially the upper mids. Much more pinched harmonics too. More close to a Nailbomb. Btw, I had a Muy Grande, which was quite microphonic. Installed a Crawler. Solved.

Yeah dude, you missed the part where I did NOT say I was going to be buying anything. I'm trying to draw up some comparissons so I will be more knowledgeable about what I'm looking for when/if I do buy something, but buying something won't be for a very long time.

Neat to hear that at least one person thinks the NailBomb's are similar, as those are the pups I really would like to drop in my next axe if I don't go with Rio's. How are NailBomb's in mahogany body guitars? Once again, just speculating here.

I still have a BBQ/Genuine Texas set lying around. Compared to a PAF-style pickup the BBQ is a lot darker. I did not hear a lot of high midrange in this pickup. It is a bit similar to WCR Fillmore but darker. The Genuine Texas is like a PAF-style humbucker but slightly on the hot, dark side though not as hot and dark as the BBQ. None of the Rios were in the same guitar as the BKPs I have so I do not have a direct comparison.

The BBQ was in an old Squier. It was fat and middy, but with aggressive uppermids, compared to the more rounded/ balanced Crawler. At least, that's what my ears told me then.
