i cant believe that after never hearing a blackstar that sounds even remotely good.

Then again a lot of TSL's sound utter shitee they have to have a fair amount of circuit tweaking and a transformer swap + some nice valves to sound good lol

stock they sound awful

The Blackstar 100 watt tube sounds very decent, I think.

Im NOT saying that there isnt any possibility of any of them sounding good.

I'm just saying that i have personally never come across any.

Then again i tried 2 or 3 models and hated them so always just dismiss them when i see them nowadays

There are certainly not my type of amps, but maybe for others they fit like a glove. For now, I stick to my Rockerverb 50 head.

personally, i've found that plugging into a blackstar gives instant satisfaction, but i quickly grew tired of it.  ultimately i found them rather characterless.

however, a friend of mine, who has been gigging a Mesa Recto-verb for about ten years, recently changed to a Stage 60, and he reckons it's the best amp he's ever used!  so, as usual, it's all down to individual tastes i suppose :)

I'm looking into getting a Blackstar Stage 60 so I'd be REALLY interested in reading a detailed review.

ello mate ive put a new pic up its on page 2 of this section under NCD. Cant really give a detailed rundown only to say that its very easy to dial in a nice tone. Needs some time for the speakers to settle in they seem a bit 'harsh' from new. Ive noticed on the Blackstar forum there seems to be a few people who have swapped out the speakers for something else also same with the valves. Im just going to leave it stock for now and see how it goes but im happy with the sound of it up to now. Not much help im afraid

Thanks for that, it always helps to hear of good experiences. Basically all I need to know is this:

1) Can I have three footswitchable channels with one set to clean, one for 80s Metal and one for the kind of distortion Metallica and Disturbed use?

2) Can all three channels be boosted effectively with a boost pedal for solos?

sounds to me more like you need a marshall TSL!

There are many interesting mods you can do with the TSL i have done quite a few to mine to clear up the low end and also tame the fizz.
