Guitar sound on "Relationship of Command"
« on: January 03, 2006, 04:20:49 PM »
Hi all,

just musing aloud here, but does anyone have any idea how the guitar sound on "Relationship of Command" by At The Drive-In was achieved? It's very punchy and wiry with plenty of attitude, but there doesn't seem to be a great deal of distortion going on. I'm wondering if Omar got that sound by cranking up the master volume to overload the power amp while backing off any pre-amp gain? I believe he was using Fender Squier Bullet for the At The Drive-In stuff as opposed to the custom Ibanez he uses in The Mars Volta, but it's the amp settings I'm mainly interested in.

I've been listening to this album for years but the guitar sound still blows me away, it's so different to my usual listening... Any suggestions?

Cheers

I'm not sure about the settings, but I think that was the same orange amp he uses in TMV, it was def. the squier bullet, not 100% on the amp though.
"What frequency are you getting? Is it noise or sweet, sweet music?"
