What pickups would you recommend to get close to Joe's tone with his new '59 'burst?

Such a great player!

As I said elsewhere I am not too impressed with that tone - any pickup would work as most of that tone sounds like a stack of effects and an overdollop of reverb.

But for a great 59 tone I would go Mules or PG Blues.
BKPS: Milks, P90s, Apaches, Mississippi Queens, Mules, PG Blues, BG FP 50s, e.60s strat custom set

PG Blues would be the obvious choice I would say.

Or what about some VHII goodness?  :D

PG Blues, Mules, or if your guitar is on the dark side, RiffRaffs.
Mules, VHII, Crawler, MM's, IT's, BG50's.

I should add that, cr@p as I am, I can channel more Beano album tones through a PG Blues bridge with the tone control at 6 than I can with Mules.  As that clip is Bonamassa doing a Beano album thing, I would go PG Blues

As it is a youtube video I kind of agree with the comments of the other guys - most low/mid gain pickups will be able to get such tones.

From my Bonamassa CDs I would say the Black Dog is probably a very good choice for Bonamassa tones, as it has a very solid bass and mids and Bonamassa usually has a thick and fat sound with not too much treble.
Current BKPs: Miracle Man, Nailbomb, Juggernaut, VHII
Past BKPS: Holy Diver, Trilogy Suite, Sinner, Black Dog
