Good man. I recently quit my job to do audio engineering, production, teching and teaching. Its so much better I cant even begin to tell you. Mainly because I hated the place I worked (as opposed to my job, which wasnt too bad) so much I cant even tell you
Before you say it, I know there are (much) better out there at those things, but I live in west cumbria; I dont have a tremendous amount of competition
Just trying to build it up now, get my name out: its going surprisingly well!
I know what you mean about the 'healthy and alive again'. I really didnt realise how down I was from where I worked and the lifestyle it forced. It sharpens the senses and motivates you that much more that your success or failure depends entirely on what you do, off your own back, when a salary isnt coming in every month, too. More like 'real' living, if that makes the blindest bit of sense; you get back in proportion to what work you do.
Clearly you must invest all your time into luthiery, finances allowing.
