guilty of being white
« on: March 23, 2011, 12:03:36 PM »
...is a Minor Threat song... (Slayer also covered it)...

apart from that, my charvel feels guilty of being too white...
I changed the knob to an MXR one recently, and I had to change the toggle switch as there was something wrong with the old ones contacts (if I switched to the neck then the volume out was cut down, kind of like dirt in the switch but cleaning it didn't help). The new one feels better.

it feels very white! not a major technical issue I know... I should have gone for some green zebra pups and a pink fender style volume knob or something

I think it looks cool.  Very white suits a superstrat I think.  Wait until your fingerboard is all grubby, then it'll feel more lived in. :)

haha, I'm partial to a crisp white tshirt though, wearing white while playing this guitar makes me feel like I'm in an 80's metal dazz advert.

well it ain't that bad really. I am looking forward to the neck getting grubby! I like that look on maple.

I think it looks good, brightly coloured pickups or knobs would be too cheesy with the white body.

The picture immediately made me think of Tony MacAlpine.  If I remember right, he's playing a similar looking guitar (a Kramer?) on the back of his first album.

thanks for the comments.
I'm not sure I like the MXR knob, but it does the job. the switch feels soooo much better than the old one. less stiff... and it doesn't cut off!

I like this guitar.
Dr Know's (aka Gary Miller) strat. Looks like a charvel. I like the colour going on.
It's HSS with a Green humbucker bridge, yellow rails in the middle, and red rails in the neck.
I assume the knobs are red volume and orange tone. looks like it has 3 mini toggles too.
looks great! I can't see a pickup selector though, so I'm wondering with the mini toggles are on/off switches for each pup. I like the style!

I think it looks simple and functional- just as I like a guitar to be.

If you find it too white you could fit a pick guard or pickup frames.

good call!

I tried to find some pics of things others had done.
this was the original look

I don't like the ring look so much on any of the charvels TBH. as per below.

This is another I found that is even whiter than mine!
One someone had modded with the P Rail thingy and a mini toggle.

I also want to get a brass block for mine. There seems to be more on ebay than just the 'floyd upgrades' one. I dunno whether to go for any of the others. These guitars seem like a good base for messing around. brass block, pickup changes, mini toggles... I'm half tempted to go HSH and have loads of switches!
