Is Thomann any good ?
« on: March 27, 2011, 06:03:09 PM »
Does anyone here buy from Thomann?
I was planning on buying an acoustic from them on account of their great price and free shipping but I've read some very mixed reviews on their customer service and the quality of the goods shipped.

Since this is one of the few Islands of sense that I've found in the great sea of BS is the internet I'd really like to hear your opinions.
It wasn't a mistake, it was chromaticism, I swear.

I have ordered so many times from them I cannot even count. I was always happy, they do a good job. Plus you have 30 days return no questions asked and 5 years warranty. They fixed my SM57 when it broke after 4 years. Obviously I wouldn't have had the receipt anymore, but it was still as PDF in my customer account on their site. They even paid the shipping for the repair both ways!

Only limited trade with them, but will again wherever they have what I want. Its been as good to better than dealing with companies in the UK (DV247, GAK, Dolphin etc).

I bought a guitar from them and it was a good experience. I had a customer contact who was very helpful and they have a system where you can track the order through all the steps the sales process i.e. processing payment, checking instrument, dispatching etc...

I would recommend them on the back of my one and only experience of buying a guitar from them.

Just in case you're having second thoughts, I'm a regular Thomann customer too & all my experiences have been excellent.  My orders have ranged in size from a few mics in a small box to a valve head, to a huge crate full of rack gear.

The thing I like most about Thomann is that they clearly indicate whether the product is in stock - and that information is accurate.

I never order from website unless I have first verified that the items are in stock & can be shipped straight away.  With Thomann that's easy.

I've ordered from them several times and never had a problem of any kind.

It's a very professionally run business - unlike some online music shops!
BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds
BKPs I Had:  RY+Abraxas, Crawlers, BD+SM

I've used Thomann for a good 10+ years now - first just an SM57 (they were the first to offer them really cheap), then I've bought various things from them over the years and still get my strings from there.

It's great to hear such positive feedback, especially on this forum since I'm sure most of you have been spoiled by BKP's customer service and Tim's habbit of repyling to emails before they've been sent  :)

my brother bought a drum kit for his teenage daughter from thomann and the bass pedal kept breaking.they replaced it 3 times.they also give a 3 year warranty on everything they sell.

I ordered plenty of stuff from them. Never any problems.

As a band we ordered a PA system. that had some damage and didn't work like it should, faulty preamp or something. Sent it back and got a new one within 5 days.

They really put some UK companies to shame, and not because of their sheer size of company. Their first general impression is just that they're nice.

When I think of UK companies I generally think "Is this guy selling or just looking out for himself?" which isn't that great of a start :B
