Ibanez Stock Pickup Routes.
« on: March 29, 2011, 02:30:09 PM »
Hey,
firstly hello, I'm new to the forum and to guitar tech-ing so go easy and please don't hesitate to correct me if I am using the wrong terminology! I have some experience with installing pickups in to guitars, I installed an EMG set in to my Ibanez S470 as a first step in to tech-ing. Recently I have take a leap in to the world of 7 string guitars, I got an Ibanez 2008 RG1527. I have seen a lot of posts on here about various combinations for getting specific tones.

My question is not about the tone more about concerns with attempting to fit BKP's in to my Ibanez. I have read a few posts about the pickups being to big for the stock routes, I just wondered if you could help clear up the myths and put my mind at ease, or prepare me for the extra work.

Will the BKP set fit in the existing routes or will I need to enlarge the stock routes on the guitar? Does it depend on the type of pickup i choose and whether it is in a case or not?

Any advice/help is appreciated! Thank-you in advance.
Jamie.

Hi Skirvin,

Did you ever get a response on this one, or did you learn anything from your own experiences?

I'm looking to put a set of Nailbombs in my Ibanez RG2620, and was looking for some pointers...

Cheers,
Si
